Manuka honey is produced by bees that pollinate the Manuka tree, which is native to and grows naturally in Australia and New Zealand. It is renowned as one of the most beneficial types of honey in the world and has been scientifically proven to possess medicinal properties that are beneficial for both internal and external health.

How is Manuka honey good for the skin and body?

When applied to the skin, Manuka honey helps to comprehensively rejuvenate and nourish the skin by providing moisture, fighting free radicals, healing wounds, and offering high medicinal benefits. It is packed with enzymes that produce hydrogen peroxide, which aids in fighting bacteria, reducing inflammation, and soothing skin conditions like chronic dermatitis (rosacea) or acne. Additionally, it stimulates collagen production in the skin, resulting in firmer, more youthful-looking skin.

Beyond its external benefits, Manuka honey can also assist those who have trouble sleeping or suffer from restless sleep. It contains high levels of tryptophan (an amino acid) that triggers the production of serotonin, a chemical that helps the body feel relaxed and eventually leads to the production of melatonin, a key hormone that induces sleepiness.

It aids in healing wounds and preventing infections.

It soothes sore throats. The thick consistency of Manuka honey coats the inside of the throat, and its antibacterial properties act as a natural remedy to kill germs in the throat, helping to alleviate coughing or sore throat symptoms more quickly.

With its high antioxidant content, Manuka honey also supports digestive health by reducing inflammation in the intestines. Additionally, it contains sugars called oligosaccharides, which help stimulate the growth of good bacteria in the gut.
